Having epilepsy or caring for someone with epilepsy can be challenging. Sometimes the practical problems of daily living (i.e. insurance, jobs, and medical care) can be overwhelming. It helps to have someone to talk to who understands what you are going through.
Epilepsy support groups provide peer support, information sharing, and discussion of common problems. They may also include presentations by professionals on topics of interest. Epilepsy support groups can be:
- A place to talk with people who know where you’re coming from;
- A forum to give and receive information about epilepsy and treatments;
- A place to stay informed about the latest legislation, research, and resources.
