About Bequests

Bequests are a way to make a significant gift to help further our mission.

A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. It is one of the more flexible and simpler ways of planned giving. It’s also an excellent way to ensure the future success of EFCST programs and services.

Become a part of the EFCST Legacy Society by sharing your commitment with us and to show our appreciation, you will receive a certificate and lapel flame pin.

What are the benefits of making a bequest?
  1. You’re leaving a lasting legacy to be remembered by
  2. You lessen the burden of taxes on your family
  3. You may receive estate tax savings
How do I make a bequest?

With the help of an advisor, a bequest is one of the simplest gifts to make. They can help you include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas as a part of your estate plan.

A bequest can be done in several ways:

  1. You can specify a dollar amount or asset.
  2. You can specify a percentage of your estate.
  3. You can specify a gift be made form the balance or residue of your estate.
  4. You can make a beneficiary designation or certain assets.

IRA Rollover

An IRA rollover allows people 70½ and older to reduce their taxable income.

With an IRA rollover, you can reduce your taxable income by making a gift directly from your IRA. This type of gift is an excellent way to make a huge and immediate impact for our organization and the people we serve.

What are the benefits of an IRA charitable rollover?
  1. Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA to EFCST.
  2. Make a gift that is not subject to deduction limits on charitable gifts.
  3. Help people with epilepsy lead more independent, fulfilling lives.
How does an IRA charitable rollover work?
  1. Contact your IRA plan administrator to make your gift.
  2. Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to EFCST to help us provide care and services to people with epilepsy.
  3. Please note, IRA charitable rollover gifts don’t qualify for a charitable deduction.
  4. Contact us if you would like your gift used for a specific purpose.

Endowment Gifts

An endowed gift is one of the most powerful ways to have a lasting impact on our organization.

An endowment is a gift set-up to ensure the long term success of our organization. An endowment is when a donor gives funds to an organization with instructions to use the annual income generated from those funds. Essentially, the gift is invested to provide income for the maintenance of the organization in years to come.

What are the benefits of an endowment?
  1. Provide a stable income stream for EFCST for years to come.
  2. Make a lasting, continual impact on our organization and the people we serve.
  3. Leave a lasting legacy for yourself.
