Every year when we get ready for the Walk to END EPILEPSY, the most obvious way to help is to register yourself – whether you attend the event or are a virtual walker! But did you know there are more ways to participate? Here are just five different ways that you can get involved with the Walk to END EPILEPSY.

1. Start a Fundraiser

The heart of any event we hold is peer-to-peer fundraising. What is peer-to-peer fundraising? Simply put, it’s when our supporters like you ask their friends, family, and even colleagues to donate.

Asking may not seem like a lot, but every dollar adds up. Last year, about 100 people collectively raised more than $40,000! That’s about $400 raised per person. Right now, that may seem daunting, but think about how many people you know!

If you asked only ten people for a donation, at $10 each, that’s already $100! Plus, we offer so many resources for you to use to make sure you’re successful.

2. Sponsor a Walker

The Walk to END EPILEPSY is an essential community event not just because of the fundraising, but because it brings people and families affected by epilepsy together. There’s no greater feeling than knowing that you are not alone. Unfortunately, not everyone can make the $15 minimum donation to attend the event. That’s where you come in!

For the same $15 minimum donation, you can sponsor a walker and make an immediate impact on the life of a person with epilepsy.

3. Become a Virtual Walker

We can’t always make it to the events we want to support, for whatever reason! Thankfully, we have a solution for that. You can become a virtual walker for the same $15 minimum donation and support the Walk to END EPILEPSY from wherever you are!

Virtual Walkers can purchase the same commemorative t-shirt as any other walker, which will be mailed to you.

4. Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to the success of our events. We need volunteers for not only the day of the event but for other days, such as packet assembly and packet pick-up.

Volunteering is an excellent way for student groups and other groups to help support the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas and the people with epilepsy who depend on us. For any questions about volunteering, you can contact Denise Acosta.

5. Become an Influencer

There’s no better way to reach a broad audience than through social media. You’re expanding our reach when you use your accounts to share about the Walk to END EPILEPSY.

Need tips on what to share? No problem! We’ve compiled resources for you to use! On our website, you can find different guides, flyers, and even a social media toolkit. Our social media toolkit includes graphics and also sample posts to make sure you’re successfully spreading the word about the Walk to END EPILEPSY.
