As a non-profit organization, all the proceeds raised go directly towards making a better community. That’s why our fundraising events are so important, especially the Walk to END EPILEPSY. When you support the Walk to END EPILEPSY, you’re supporting the most vulnerable of our community.

Still not convinced? Here are 5 reasons why you should register for an upcoming Walk near you:

1. Anyone could have a seizure.

Seizures do not discriminate; they do not care about color, race, creed, gender, or nationality. You could have a seizure at any time, and that’s why we’re here. With support groups and case management, our social services coordinator helps those who don’t know where to go.

2. Specialized care is essential for a person with epilepsy.

A person with epilepsy requires specialized care, whether they see a generalized neurologist or epileptologist. That’s why our outreach seizure clinics are specifically for our most vulnerable. Your support ensures that we can keep providing unparalleled care for those who are uninsured and underinsured.

3. Your support helps someone understand their diagnosis.

Proceeds from the Walk to END EPILEPSY help the Epilepsy Foundation provide essential testing for our patients who can’t afford it on their own. Testing like EEGs and MRIs help our patients better understand their seizures.

4. Education helps save lives and dispel stigmas.

At the Epilepsy Foundation, we provide FREE community training in seizure recognition and first aid. The more we educate our community, the more epilepsy is understood. Your support ensures that we can continue providing our schools, first responders, and other community members FREE training and education.

5. We’re giving youth and adults the tools to live independently.

At EFCST, our programs are helping youth and adults with epilepsy self-manage their epilepsy. Our programs are teaching patients better ways to cope with stress, how to track their own medication, and we even offer memory training for adults! For youth, we offer a summer camp that is specifically tailored to their needs. Not only do they experience a traditional camp, but they’re able to connect with people with similar circumstances.
