AUSTIN, Texas – The Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas announces the ninth annual IM OK Walk to End Epilepsy – Austin on March 30, 2019. The walk will take place at Concordia University Texas. Registration starts at 7:00 a.m. The walk will have refreshments, family-friendly activities, and vendors that are of interest to people affected by epilepsy.

A New Location

2018 IM OK Walk Participants“With this new location, we are able to serve our growing community and people with epilepsy and their loved ones in a larger venue,” said Mary Saldivar, Development Manager at the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas. “I am very excited that Concordia University Texas has welcomed us with open arms,” Mary continued. “I hope this helps our event to continue to grow.”

The Epilepsy Foundation invites community members to walk along the scenic route at Concordia University Texas. Those who cannot attend the walk can register as a “virtual walker.” Virtual walkers will have their t-shirt mailed to them. The walk also provides social and educational opportunities for people in the epilepsy community.

Fundraising Opportunities

Individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations can form a team and set a fundraising goal. Fundraisers can meet their goals with the help of friends, family, and neighbors. The annual cost of care for a person with epilepsy is significant for families and caregivers.

Proceeds from the walk benefit the essential services at the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas. Low and no-cost services for people with epilepsy include: seizure clinics, support groups, community education, and youth development programs. The Foundation is seeking sponsors for financial and in-kind support. Volunteers will also be needed for the day of the walk.

Visit Walk2EndEpilepsy.com for more information, to donate, and to register online. Registration starts at $20. The early bird discount ends on January 31, 2019. People must register by March 5 to be guaranteed an event shirt. People can register in-person at 7:00 a.m. on March 30.

About Kaden
